Was She Always This Scared?
She moved closer to the statue. Several tiny spotlights situated far above the statue illuminated its wide eyes. “Was she always this scared?” She stroked the metal woman’s cheek, running her slender fingers over her golden lips, her scream-frozen mouth.
He stared at the statue. She could see a slight hint of a smile cross over on his lips, and then it was gone. “Not always.”
